Acklen Records is a project based, educationally driven recording/marketing project designed to engage and develop "hands on" student activity in the selection, development, recording, and production of commercial recorded product and marketing content for both online and venue use.
Acklen Records projects are primarily short student driven recording and marketing projects that reinforce content development within curriculum goals. The framework is flexible to embrace existing projects as well as projects yet to be determined by student involvement. Currently, projects are submitted and proposed by students registered for MBU 4200 Record Company Operations at Belmont University within the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. These projects are separate from other Indiebandhub.com projects are are focused on the development of marketing content or the recording process. Projects do not need to be based on student bands--but must be produced by student teams. Non-recording projects are considered by IndieBandhub.com and are also treated semester by semester--see indiebandhub submission process for more information.
All Acklen Records recording projects are developed on a “project by project” basis and voted on and approved within semester based class projects. Typically, but not always, if you are submitted and approved, we target the following:
- Record your band or project (short term recording--2 days tracking & mixing--some overdubs)
- Master your project,
- Place your project online at Indiebandhub.com
- Give you the master tracks and track files for your own use
Additionally, through this process, class projects will also
- Produce a 1 or 2 videos for your band
- Set up and complete a band photo shoot
- Complete a new targeted bio for you
- Design and print tour posters for you
Finally--if approved and band shows a history of live performance, we may provide a limited pressing of a traditional CD for venue sales. If you are interested in being a project--you must be submitted to Indiebandhub.com and have agreed to our
online agreement. Also, all exisitng bands on the IBH site are considered for all projects each semester. If you are at a stage where this will benefit you--please either submit to this web site --but also contact
Dr. David Herrera with your pitch to the "Acklen Records Project" and I will forward you to the class projects for consideration. Projects are posted online each semester.
